The
volunteer Board of Directors of the Mankato North Mankato Youth
Football league would like to express the goals of the MNMYF program
this fall.
All MNMYF coaches and directors shall be subject to the Code of Ethics Pledge of the National Youth Sports Coaches Association:
I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of any personal desire to win. I
will remember to treat each player as an individual, remembering the
large spread of emotional and physical development for the same age
group. I will do my very best to provide a safe playing situation for my players. I promise to review and practice the necessary first aid principles needed to treat injuries of my players. I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players. I will insure that I am knowledgeable in the rules of football and that I will teach these rules to my players. I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for each of the skills I teach. I will remember that I am a youth coach, and that the game is for the children and not adults.
MNMYF football could take many directions, such as "win-win-win at all costs"
focus, rather than its positive learning approach. It is important to
realize that youths today are raised in an environment of competition
and that they must learn the value of good competition and of always
doing one's best. | |
Goals for the football season are very simple.
1.) To develop fundamental football skills.
2.) To play and work as a team, not as an individual.
3.) To have fun at practices and games.
4.) To do our best at all times.
5.) To maintain good sportsmanship all times. We facilitate the development of strength and character in every child that participates. Participation in our league is open to all youth in the Mankato area.
We are sustained by the efforts of volunteers who display an extraordinary amount of commitment and hard work, ensuring that our league is a positive influence in the lives of our children. We also strive to provide a service to our community by providing a healthy outlet for children, opportunities for the community to gather together, and endless hours of entertainment.
Sportsmanship / Teamwork / Strength / Character / Discipline / Dedication
We welcome all children, regardless of race, creed or national origin.
Our league is registered as a non-profit organization. We appreciate the generous support of the community, local merchants, and civic organizations if you are interested in getting involved (click here).
